How To Play Bingo
Bingo is a very popular game which is played mainly in the US, UK and Australia. The game is conducted in halls and the rules and payouts differ according to where it’s being played. Generally, bingo brochures will be available at the location of the game, whereby you will be able to find out about the rules and the methods of payout.
Lets get started
First things first, players have to purchase cards which contain numbers in a 5 x 5 pattern which correspond to the 5 letters in ‘BINGO’. Numbers like B – 5 or G – 34 are randomly drawn out of a transparent cylinder and called out (there are a possible 75 balls in American Bingo and 90 in British and Australian Bingo) until a player is able to complete a ‘Bingo’ sequence (a sequence involves five ‘called out’ number in either a vertical, horizontal or a diagonal row). The winner then gets a prize.
The bingo card
A ‘Bingo Card’ has 25 square boxes. 24 of the boxes contain numbers, and the middle box is ‘Free’. The numbers are randomly printed on each of the cards and the boxes are printed in 5 columns and 5 rows. The numbers under the B column are between 1 – 15, the I column consisting of numbers between 16 – 30, the N column 31 – 45 (the column only has 4 numbers printed, with the ‘Free’ space occupying the middle box), the G column 46 – 60 and the O column 61 – 75.
There are a massive number of unique (non – duplicated) cards from which you can make your purchases. Some companies print a unique set of 6000 cards. There are also cases where you can get access to 9000 unique cards. The hard cards and the flimsy cards have a particular series number imprinted. As an example, the card bearing the number 1490 will always have the same pattern regardless of who produces it.
Number calling
The person who picks the balls out of the cylinder (the ‘Caller’) announces the numbers extremely quickly, so it is very important that you are on full alert during the whole period of the game, and make sure that you mark the relevant numbers quickly and correctly on the relevant cards.
Shouting 'Bingo!'
The caller will continue calling out numbers unless a player or more shout ‘BINGO’! The game is stopped and the cards are obtained and checked. If the markings have been correctly made, the prize is given and a new game starts with fresh cards. If there is more than 1 person who has been declared winner, the prize is shared among them. There are a number of variations in Las Vegas, including the Coverall Bingo, Six Pack, and Letter X. In addition, there are places where you can get progressive payouts which can go up to $10000.
Bingo on the net
When you play bingo online, you are given a random set of bingo cards. Most games give you 3 – 4, while others allow you to get more. All online bingo games have a board where the bingo numbers being ‘called’ are displayed. The game pattern is also shown. Some websites automatically mark the numbers on the relevant cards for you.
